About Us

Tower Research Capital careers span quantitative research, high-frequency trading, and systems engineering at one of the world's leading proprietary trading firms. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in New York City, Tower trades equities, futures, options, FX, and fixed income across 100+ venues globally -- with quantitative researchers and engineers earning top-of-market compensation tied directly to strategy performance.

With approximately 1,200 employees across offices in New York, London, Chicago, Singapore, Montreal, and Gurgaon, Tower has spent 25+ years building its business on a proprietary high-performance technology platform and a model of independent trading teams operating within a shared infrastructure.

How Tower Is Structured

Tower's model is deliberately non-siloed. Independent trading teams have the autonomy to build and own their strategies while benefiting from Tower's core engineering infrastructure. The tight feedback loop between quant researchers and the core tech team is a central competitive advantage -- strategies get to market faster, and engineers understand the direct impact of their work on trading outcomes.

Roles at Tower

Quantitative Researcher / Trader -- Work on signal development, model construction, and strategy research using proprietary data and tools. PhD candidates from top-tier programs in math, physics, CS, and statistics are strongly recruited. Hands-on ownership of strategies from day one. Software / Core Engineering -- Build the low-latency connectivity, data infrastructure, risk management frameworks, and research tools that power Tower's trading. Work in C++, Python, Rust, and Java on problems at the frontier of systems engineering.

Operations & Support -- Trade operations, risk monitoring, compliance, and business support functions. More accessible entry point for finance professionals from non-quant backgrounds.

Culture and Compensation

Tower's culture is notably flat and collaborative -- no unnecessary hierarchy, no ego. The firm invests heavily in employee development, offering workshops, continuous learning resources, and generous benefits including hybrid work (3 days in office), complimentary meals, and generous vacation time.

Compensation at Tower is among the strongest in the industry. Quantitative researchers and traders typically earn total compensation well into six figures from day one, with significant upside as strategies perform. Technical interviews are rigorous but focused on actual work -- no abstract riddles or gotcha questions.
