Job Description And Duties

CalPERS is seeking two motivated Student Assistants to support two separate units within the Information Technology Services Branch; the Information Management (IM) unit and the Enterprise Analytics Services (EAS) units. While both positions offer opportunities to contribute to data, technology, and process improvement work, each unit has its own distinct focus and responsibilities. Please see the attached duty statements for more information about each position.
Information Management (IM): The IM Student Assistant will support work related to enterprise architecture, data quality, and artificial intelligence research. Responsibilities may include assisting with Production Change Requests (PCRs) for data fixes, supporting application and technology assessments, conducting research, developing documentation, and maintaining application portfolios.
Enterprise Analytics Services (EAS): The EAS Student Assistant will support work related to data analytics, data warehousing, project management, and data modeling. Responsibilities may include assisting with dashboards, reports, documentation, Jira boards, Confluence spaces, Power BI dashboards, and data integration activities.

As a Student Assistant, you’ll work flexible hours that fit around your class schedule while supporting the needs of the unit. Students work up to 1,500 hours within a 12-month period. You’ll be paid hourly based on the number of hours you work.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.
Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship. CalPERS does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes.
