Purpose and Job Summary
Lument provides comprehensive capital solutions for multifamily, affordable, MHC, seniors, healthcare, and commercial real estate. Our services include investment banking, mortgage banking, private equity, balance sheet lending, investment sales, and corporate advisory.
We are seeking a precise, driven Associate / Analyst to work directly with senior originators on a high volume of insurance company-placed transactions. This role is integral to the entire deal lifecycle—moving transactions from origination through capital sourcing, due diligence, and closing. The successful candidate will support underwriting, financial analysis, due diligence management, and serve as a central liaison between borrowers, third-party vendors, and life insurance capital partners.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Deal Placement & Financial Analysis
- Support comprehensive loan underwriting and financial modeling based on property cash flows, market research, and life company lending parameters.
- Prepare high-quality lender submission packages, loan proposals, applications, engagement letters, and loan commitments.
- Maintain accurate, real-time transaction data within the proprietary database.
Transaction Coordination & Closing Management
- Lead deal coordination and manage transaction flow across origination, underwriting, and closing phases.
- Manage the due diligence lifecycle: create needs lists, review application materials, and update underwriting workbooks (rent rolls, property schedules).
- Coordinate transaction structuring and closing logistics with borrowers, underwriters, insurance company closing departments, legal, and compliance.
- Engage and manage third-party report providers (appraisal, engineering, environmental).
Relationship & Process Management
- Maintain clear, timely communication with borrowers, lenders, third-party vendors, and internal teams to ensure efficient execution.
- Apply and maintain a thorough working knowledge of Lument policies, procedures, and insurance company credit guidelines.
Working Relationships & Contacts
- Maintain frequent contact with all levels of internal employees and management.
- Interact extensively with external institutional borrowers, life insurance capital partners, third-party consultants, and legal counsel.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Real Estate, Business, or Economics preferred).
- 1–3 years of commercial real estate finance experience (analytical or underwriting support at a lending institution, brokerage, or investment firm preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid understanding of CRE analytical tools, methodologies, and property-level financials.
Core Competencies
- Problem-Solving & Analysis: Strong analytical capacity to handle complex transaction structures, resolve bottlenecks independently, and synthesize property data into clear risk assessments.
- Execution & Organization: Detail-oriented and organized; proven ability to prioritize and execute multiple time-sensitive transactions under tight deadlines.
- Communication & Professionalism: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates a strong work ethic, accountability, integrity, and professional discretion.
