Job Summary:
Cohen & Steers is a global real asset investment manager with strategies in listed real estate, listed infrastructure, preferred securities, and as of three years ago, direct real estate. The firm’s 40 years of category dominance in the REITs business led to a highly strategic decision to expand into investing directly in real estate.
This role will be an integral part of the team supporting Cohen & Steers’ growing private real estate platform. This individual will be involved in oversight for accounting, financial reporting, valuations, treasury, acquisitions, and third-party service providers for our 1934 Act SEC-registered Non-Traded REIT and other funds which employ private real estate investment strategies. The role offers the unique opportunity to obtain broad exposure to the full spectrum of a real estate platform – spanning SEC filings for our public non-traded REIT, complex transactions, interactions with our joint venture partners, treasury, and investor relations operation. The individual will be a key part of the team that builds and scales a growing private real estate platform within a premier real estate investment manager.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Lead the preparation for monthly and quarterly SEC filings, such as 8-Ks, 10-Qs, and 10-Ks, maintaining audit ready support while gaining significant financial reporting experience
- Support the accounting and integration of real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financings and joint venture transactions, including purchase accounting and technical accounting analysis
- Analyze and prepare monthly and quarterly financial statement variances
- Interact regularly with senior management, external auditors, legal counsel, valuation firms, lenders, and joint venture partners
- Execute SOX-compliant internal controls and business processes
- Assist with treasury functions, including bank reconciliations, inputting and processing vendor payments and wire transfers into banking system
- Assist with the fund internal and external audit process and provide answers to various audit requests
- Participate in the valuation process for a growing real estate portfolio
- Perform ad-hoc financial, operational and administrative tasks
- Leverage AI to build and enhance existing processes
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience auditing publicly traded companies (real estate preferred, but not required)
- BA/BS in Accounting
- Big 4 Public accounting experience is recommended
- CPA license is preferred
