What You'll Do
This role is an HR Business Partner Consultant position designed to develop future HRBP capability through a combination of direct business partner support and participation in strategic talent and workforce initiatives. The successful candidate will build foundational HRBP skills while supporting leaders in the Finance Enablement Office (50%) and gaining exposure to broader organizational and talent priorities within Principal Asset Management (50%).
The candidate will serve as the primary HR partner for a smaller portfolio of leaders and teams below the executive level, providing consultation on talent management, employee and leader development, organization effectiveness, workforce planning, and execution of core HR processes. Working closely with senior HRBP leaders, they will build business acumen, strengthen consulting capabilities, and develop confidence navigating organizational and talent-related challenges.
In addition to HRBP responsibilities, the role will support several Principal Asset Management talent and workforce initiatives. These assignments are intended to broaden the individual's experience and accelerate HRBP development through exposure to workforce planning, talent development, organizational initiatives, location strategy discussions, hiring and headcount processes, executive talent discussions, and cross-functional stakeholder management. While project coordination is an important component of this work, the intent is to develop stronger HR business partnership capabilities rather than create a dedicated project management career path.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong business partnership potential, curiosity, learning agility, and relationship-building skills. They are highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities, and effective at following through on commitments. They are comfortable working with leaders, asking thoughtful questions, identifying talent and organizational opportunities, and translating business needs into practical HR solutions. Most importantly, they aspire to grow into increasingly complex HRBP responsibilities and view strategic project work as a vehicle to develop broader business and talent expertise.
