Financial Services Administrator – 401k
Full-Time | W-2 | $70,000–$80,000 Starting Salary | Growth Opportunity to $100,000+ In Year 1
About the Position
We are a small, growing financial services firm specializing in helping small businesses across the United States establish and successfully manage their 401k retirement programs.
We are looking for a Financial Services Administrator – 401k to join our team in a full-time W-2 position.
This is a client-facing, relationship-oriented position. You will communicate directly with business owners, HR contacts, and employees to help them understand their company's 401k plan and make the most of the benefits available to them.
This is not a technical 401k plan-administration position. You will not be responsible for performing complex compliance testing, preparing government filings, or doing behind-the-scenes third-party administrator work.
Instead, your role will focus on communication, education, client service, and helping employees successfully engage with their retirement plan.
What You Will Do
- Communicate with business owners and HR contacts regarding their company's 401k plan
- Communicate directly with eligible employees by phone, email, Zoom, and group meetings
- Help HR contacts understand basic 401k plan design and enrollment concepts
- Help employees understand how their 401k works and how to enroll
- Explain the importance of the employer match and encourage employee participation
- Conduct employee enrollment and education meetings
- Develop the ability to independently present 401k information to employee groups
- Respond to questions and follow up with employees and HR contacts
- Coordinate with recordkeepers, third-party administrators, and other service providers when technical questions arise
- Maintain organized follow-up and documentation using cloud-based systems
- Build strong, professional relationships with clients and employees
- Learn our systems, processes, and approach to working with small-business retirement plans
Growth Opportunity
We are looking for someone who wants to learn and grow with our company, rather than someone simply looking for a job.
Initially, you will receive training and work closely with our team. As you become more knowledgeable and confident, you will gradually take on greater responsibility.
A major part of the development path is learning to independently conduct employee meetings and presentations.
As your knowledge, responsibilities, and ability to work independently increase, so does your compensation.
The starting salary is $70,000–$80,000, with the opportunity to reach $100,000+ during the first year for the right person who successfully develops into a more independent client-facing role.
The Person We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is:
- Professional, personable, and comfortable talking with people
- A strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
- Organized and dependable
- Comfortable speaking with individuals as well as groups
- Detail-oriented and good at following through
- Comfortable learning new technology and cloud-based systems
- A self-starter who can eventually work independently
- Interested in developing a career in financial services
- Comfortable learning financial and retirement-plan concepts
- Confident enough to speak in front of a group—or motivated to develop that skill
Experience
Previous experience in financial services, insurance, banking, employee benefits, payroll, HR, customer service, or a similar client-facing environment is helpful, but it is not required.
We are willing to train the right person on the 401k-specific knowledge needed to be successful.
What matters most is your ability to learn, communicate, build relationships, stay organized, and take responsibility.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
This position provides an opportunity to build meaningful expertise in an important area of financial services while working directly with business owners, HR professionals, and employees across the country.
You will have the opportunity to start with structured training and progressively develop into someone who can independently educate employees, work with clients, and take on greater responsibility.
If you are looking for a position where your growth and increased responsibility can directly translate into increased compensation, we would like to hear from you.
