ROLE OVERVIEW
In the role of Contracts Counsel, the employee will be responsible for the following:
· Leading the drafting and negotiation of vendor contracts across the business, including research, data, software licensing, telecommunications, consulting, hardware, real estate, recruiting and other products and services
· Skillfully managing both legal and practical business considerations while working collaboratively with various BAM departments to ensure timely and efficient review
· Using AI-enabled legal and contract-management tools to enhance contract review, drafting, negotiation, and workflow efficiency, while maintaining attorney oversight
· Reviewing and handling various legal inquiries by business units
· Willingness to contribute to broader legal team function and learn new skills and subject matter
· Assisting with document retention and organization obligations
· Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative environment, with good judgment regarding when to elevate issues
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
In order to effectively represent the Company and communicate with internal stakeholders and external counterparties, the employee must be someone who has:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as negotiation and transactional agreement experience.
· Practical experience representing financial services industry clients is preferred
· Strong desire to work collaboratively with the legal team and other groups within the firm
· A high standard of professionalism in all dealings with internal staff and any external vendors, partners, clients and regulatory agencies
· Problem-solving skills and ability to identify and implement appropriate solutions
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet/exceed deadlines
· Consistent work ethic through hard work, confidence and effort
· Outstanding attention to detail and strong organization skills
· Demonstrated ability to evaluate and use AI-enabled legal and productivity tools thoughtfully and responsibly
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
· At least 1-3 years of legal experience required
· Juris Doctorate Degree
· Familiarity with the financial markets/finance firms is a plus
· Corporate experience is a plus
