What is the Position?
Evercore is seeking a Director / Vice President, Enterprise Strategy to own the Enterprise Strategy vertical within Global Technology’s Strategy team. This role runs the firm’s annual technology investment planning cycle end to end and builds and maintains the three-year technology roadmap, the strategic choice sets and the enterprise investment themes that shape how technology capital is allocated.
The role translates business priorities and technology opportunities into a coherent, costed multi-year plan. The ideal candidate will combine consulting-style structured problem solving with practical technology fluency and the ability to engage senior stakeholders across business, technology, Finance and operations. The title is shown as Director / Vice President to allow banding flexibility; experience ranges are indicative and may flex for exceptional candidates.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Annual Investment Planning Cycle
- Own the end-to-end planning calendar, from the annual strategy refresh through to investment approval.
- Consolidate and challenge technology demand across the firm.
- Run the strategy refresh and annual theme reset with the CIO.
- Produce the budget-ready investment plan for committee approval.
Strategic Choice Sets
- Frame options for every material investment decision.
- Support build / buy / partner assessments and the underlying options analysis.
- Carry a clear recommendation and articulate the reasoning behind it.
- Pre-wire options with sponsors before they reach committee.
3-Year Technology Roadmap
- Build and maintain the enterprise technology roadmap across infrastructure, cyber, data, AI and platforms.
- Sequence initiatives against capacity, dependency and risk constraints.
- Identify cross-functional dependencies, gaps and timing conflicts.
- Refresh the roadmap annually and re-baseline it quarterly.
Investment Themes
- Define the enterprise investment themes for each planning year.
- Ensure every budget request ladders into a named theme.
- Partner with Finance on theme-level allocation and trade-offs.
- Build concise investment narratives for major initiatives.
Specific Qualifications:
- 7–12 years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, technology strategy, or financial services technology or transformation. Experience in investment banking, capital markets, asset management or professional services is preferred.
- Prior exposure to CIO / CTO strategy, enterprise architecture or technology modernization is helpful.
- Strong structured problem-solving and options-framing skills, with the ability to reduce complex demand into a small number of clearly costed choices.
- Demonstrated ability to create executive-ready materials with minimal supervision.
- Strong business judgment and comfort operating directly with senior business, technology and Finance stakeholders.
- Technology fluency sufficient to challenge proposals credibly across infrastructure, cyber, data, AI and platforms, without being a deep engineer.
- Strong written communication and presentation development skills.
- Experience partnering with Finance on budgeting, allocation or capital planning is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Measures of Success:
- The annual planning cycle runs to calendar and delivers a budget-ready output.
- The three-year roadmap is adopted and actively used by technology leadership.
- Every material investment decision arrives at committee with a costed choice set.
- There is clear, demonstrable linkage between business priorities and technology investment.
- Executive understanding of technology trade-offs improves measurably.
Expected Base Salary Range: $175,000 - $210,000
This position requires valid United States work authorization and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
