The Organizational Excellence Supervisor will provide mentoring, coaching, and supervision of the work of the Organizational Excellence staff. Ensuring efforts across the team are coordinated in an effective manner and align back to IMRF’s Strategic Plan.
This role provides leadership, project management, and guidance in organizational performance measurement systems, goal setting, continuous improvement efforts and IMRF’s Journey of Excellence initiatives set by Senior Leadership and IMRF’s Project Portfolio Committee (PPC).
The Organizational Excellence Supervisor is also responsible for partnering closely with the external Organizational Excellence Consultant in assessing, developing, and implementing strategies and programs to reach targeted business and operational goals.
This role may also lead improvement projects, facilitate workshops, and mentor staff in applicable Organizational Excellence tools and methods with the goal of growing the continuous process improvement capabilities of our staff members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Performance Measurement System
• Partner with the Organizational Excellence Consultant in the design, development, and execution of IMRF’s triennial Strategic Planning Process (SPP) and Project Portfolio Management process (PPM)
• Lead activities associated with the PPM process, which include coaching project managers on process tools & procedures, ensuring compliance of process, and identifying project portfolio recommendations for the Project Portfolio Committee (PPC).
• Support leaders and staff with annual goal setting and selecting key performance measures through IMRF’s Measurement Selection process for performance monitoring
• Support adoption of the organization’s Journey of Excellence, Vision and Strategic Objectives through coaching leaders and staff on Baldrige principles, core values, and the framework.
Organizational Excellence Program Leadership
• Partner with the Organizational Excellence Consultant in the design and development of department programs including Continuous Process Improvement, User Experience Design, Performance Monitoring & Benchmarking, and the Journey of Excellence.
• Design, develop, and implement Lean Management Systems across the organization.
• Support adoption, integration and maturity of Continuous Process Improvement and User Experience Design practices and processes across departments and cross-functional teams.
• Lead and coach cross-functional teams on Lean Six-Sigma and IMRF CPI tools, such as the IAPI process, to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of current operations to organize teams towards improvement
Organizational Excellence Team Supervision
• Provide supervision and participate in hiring, performance management, department planning, training, development, counseling, and coaching when applicable.
• Establish and manage relationships with key external partners and vendors
• Conduct department performance monitoring & reporting, establish team goals, and facilitate workforce engagement action planning.
• Conduct research for the Organizational Excellence Department when requested by Senior Leadership or the Organizational Excellence Consultant. This may involve researching CPI best practices in and outside of the industry that may assist IMRF in its Journey of Excellence and accomplishment of the Strategic Plan.
• Other duties of similar scope and complexity as requested.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
• 5+ years related work experience in a business environment with a proven track record of performance
• Strong knowledge of the Baldrige Framework, Baldrige Examiner training preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma Methodologies and their associated tools, acquired through education/training/testing
• Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze large sets of data and draw conclusions
• Experience in coaching, training, teaching and team building
• Experience leading cross-functional teams with diverse backgrounds to achieve sustainable results
• Six Sigma certification preferred
• Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or project management experience a plus
• Proficiency in MSOffice Suite, including Excel (formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, pivot tables, macros, etc.)
Supervisor Responsibilities
Supervises employees in the Organizational Excellence Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Salary and Benefits
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83,002 - $91,302 Please note the salary information is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The range listed is just one component of IMRF's total compensation package for employees.
