The Investment Accounting Manager is responsible for Nuveen fund accounting and reporting activities. A key focus of this role is to liaise with Asset Management, forecast fund capital needs, and oversee the accounting and reporting provided by external fund administrators. Responsible for accurate and complete financial statements and investor reporting. This job works directly with asset management, Product, Legal, and external fund administrators. This job guides a team to prepare month end closing reports, analytics, and reports to investors, senior management, and board directors.
Key Responsibilities And Duties
- Reviews IFRS and GAAP work papers and supporting schedules to satisfy investment accounting requirements and ensure conformance with accounting standards.
- Endures deliverables are produced on a timely basis in accordance with established reporting calendars.
- Identifies and communicates key financial highlights.
- Reviews frequent ad hoc financial inquiries into the monthly and quarterly reports, adding value by providing management insight into the financial results of the underlying investments, including performance returns, OpEx, and capital planning.
- Analyzes calculated unlevered and levered, gross and net portfolio performance returns and internal rates of return.
- Manages large processes in reporting and investment accounts, along with guiding and mentoring lower-level professionals.
- Identifies and advocates for continuous improvement opportunities, leveraging automation for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of workflows.
- Coordinates with external auditors, Legal, Tax and other stakeholders to facilitate a well-controlled and efficient audit and reporting cycle.
- Supports technical accounting assessments for proposed and executed transactions by researching relevant accounting literature and preparing the documentation of conclusions in formal accounting memos.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, including experience in investment company accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Public accounting experience
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience with Global Investment Performance Standards
- Proven track record for managing complex projects and transactions
- Experience managing people
- Experience interacting with internal and external auditors
- Ability to identify areas of improvement and implement necessary enhancements

Base Pay Range: $93,400/yr - $110,000/yr
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
