RBC Real Estate Capital Partners (RECP) is a leading provider of debt capital to premier, institutional real estate sponsors. RECP’s mandate is to originate debt secured by stabilized and transitional assets across all major commercial real estate asset classes, in both single asset and portfolio investments. RECP acts as principal, deploying RBC Capital Markets’ balance sheet by originating senior mortgage, mezzanine, loan-on-loan, and revolving facilities.
RECP focuses on core and major regional markets in the US, UK, Europe, Australia, and Canada. With a small team of dedicated professionals in Dallas and London, over the past decade RECP has participated in over $42 billion of mortgage, mezzanine and loan-on-loan financings.
What is the opportunity?
RECP Dallas is looking for a qualified real estate professional to oversee RECP’s North American and Australian loan book, with a focus on the supervision of RECP’s exposure and the active management of loan positions. Together with the originations team, the candidate will maintain relationships with client contacts in the US, Australia, and Canada, as well as internal RBC partners in critical support groups based in Toronto and NY.
What will you do?
- Develop and lead strategic initiatives to enhance and optimize the asset management platform
- Active monitoring of the RECP Dallas loan portfolio, which is comprised of assets in the US, Australia, and Canada, while regularly engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide direction and assistance to asset management Analysts / Associates
- Analyze and approve key deal-level decisions, including lease approvals, and coordinate potential facility modifications
- Contribute to and oversee the ongoing production of comprehensive portfolio review and analysis presentations (e.g. revenue forecasts, stress tests, exposure concentration analyses, etc.)
- Lead recurring Asset Management Updates, which include ongoing qualitative and quantitative analysis of the RECP loan portfolio and real estate collateral
- Oversee third party loan servicers and internal RBC transaction management teams in monitoring of loan covenants and performance
- Interact with borrowers to get regular, detailed performance updates on the real estate assets collateralizing the portfolio
- Participate in site inspections of ongoing capital work and evaluate business plan execution progress
- Prepare co-lender reporting packages, where applicable, while managing information requests and consents required by co-lenders on lender approval requests received from borrowers
- Manage external and internal reviews of the loan portfolio
What do you need to succeed?
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- 10+ years of experience in the commercial real estate sector (asset management, servicing, banking, finance or investing)
- Robust verbal and written presentation capabilities
- Excellent data management and Excel cash flow modelling skills
- Argus experience
- Self-motivated, with ability to work both autonomously and in a highly collaborative, team based environment
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet tight timelines
- Willingness and ability to travel
