About the Team and Department
The Diversified Equity team works within Franklin Templeton’s Franklin Equity group. For nearly 4 decades, this team has delivered equity portfolio solutions primarily focused on US based, public equities using a value approach. Our portfolios have a strong quantitative foundation with fundamental analysis employed in some strategies to identify quantitatively attractive investments which may be less likely to outperform.
About The Role
The Systematic Equity Analyst will provide quantitative and fundamental analysis and support for Systematic Small, Select, Mid and Large Cap Value and Dynamic equity portfolios. The Analyst will assist the investment team with analysis of securities, sector/industry groups and portfolios, and conduct financial statement analysis with specific focus on operating earnings, balance sheet strength and threats to business. The Analyst will support the investment team in additional areas including portfolio performance evaluation, ESG activities, trading cost analysis, client request, and other tasks. The investment process for this investment strategy is quantitative in nature with a fundamental exclusion overlay.
How You Will Add Value
- Analysis typically focuses on individual securities and quantitative research topics.
- Independently conduct research on securities within a team framework.
- Perform security analysis focused on team objectives of operating earnings purity, evaluating balance sheet strength, and identifying business risks with the objective of avoiding unfit securities, not active selection of stocks.
- Assists portfolio managers in day-to-day data maintenance and portfolio rebalancing.
- Assist portfolio research team through assembling and reviewing data, conducting statistical analysis, and completing quantitative studies with supervision.
- Assists in portfolio attribution analysis and client reporting.
- Assists as needed with research and development of new products and enhancements to existing products.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
What Will Help You Be Successful In This Role
Experience, Education & Certifications
- 2 - 4 years of experience in equity markets, with demonstrated quantitative research, data analysis, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's or masters degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, or Accounting.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets, including data extraction, analysis, and interpretation.
- Strong quantitative mindset with a rigorous, mathematically driven approach to research and problem solving.
- Ability to work within a disciplined, process-oriented approach while maintaining flexibility, initiative and curiosity.
- Knowledge of equity markets, financial analysis, accounting and investment concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex findings to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment experiencing significant growth and change.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, exercise sound judgment, and seek guidance when appropriate while collaborating with team members.

Compensation Range: Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary—designed to support their well-being and recognize their time, talents, and results. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $105,000 to $140,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus, depending on location and level of relevant experience.
