Position Summary
Develop and apply municipal credit expertise to generate forward-looking credit views, internal ratings, and investment recommendations across a range of municipal sectors. Responsibilities include fundamental and market-based research, ongoing credit surveillance, and clear communication of insights to portfolio managers and the broader investment team. Work product includes concise written reports, data-driven analysis, and proactive identification of emerging risks and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fundamental credit analysis across multiple municipal sectors, incorporating financial, economic, policy, and demographic factors.
- Formulate and maintain internal credit ratings and outlooks, with clear supporting rationale.
- Monitor issuer performance and market developments, proactively identifying credit risks and opportunities.
- Produce clear, concise, and actionable research for portfolio managers and investment committees.
- Communicate credit views and recommendations effectively across the investment platform.
- Contribute to sector research, thematic analysis, and team-wide initiatives, including data and technology enhancements.
- Support ongoing improvements in research processes, tools, and analytics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; CFA designation or progress preferred.
- 3–5 years of municipal or fixed income credit experience.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including financial statement analysis and credit risk assessment.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, well-supported conclusions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and data tools; experience with Power BI, Python, or similar tools is a plus, along with familiarity with AI-enabled tools (e.g., Copilot) to enhance research efficiency and insight generation.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to research and problem solving.
