Position Overview
Jefferies is seeking an experienced Associate or Vice President to join its Specialty Finance Investment Banking team in New York. The successful candidate will play a key role in the execution of M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory assignments while working closely with senior bankers and clients across the specialty finance ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and manage M&A, equity, debt, and strategic advisory transactions for specialty finance clients.
- Develop, review, and maintain complex financial models, including operating models, valuation analyses, merger models, accretion/dilution analyses, and LBO analyses.
- Prepare and oversee the development of client presentations, board materials, offering memoranda, marketing materials, and other transaction-related documentation.
- Conduct industry, company, and market research to support transaction execution and business development initiatives.
- Manage due diligence processes and coordinate with clients, legal counsel, accountants, lenders, investors, and other external advisors.
- Serve as a key point of contact on transaction workstreams and collaborate closely with senior bankers, clients, and internal product partners.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to strategic discussions across a variety of advisory and financing assignments.
- Assist with business development efforts, including pitch preparation, market updates, and relationship management activities.
- Mentor and develop junior team members while ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant investment banking experience, with preference for candidates from FIG, specialty finance, financial services, or related sectors.
- Strong transaction execution experience across M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory engagements.
- Advanced financial modeling, valuation, analytical, and accounting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and consistently deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of financial institutions, credit-oriented business models, and specialty finance sectors.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with senior bankers, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Proven leadership capabilities and a track record of mentoring junior professionals and managing transaction teams.
- Commercial mindset with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus but not required.
- Title (Associate or Vice President) will be determined based on experience, transaction execution capabilities, leadership qualities, and client management experience.
