Position Overview
Reporting into the Head of Relationship Management, the Managing Director will work with the team as well as both senior management and members of the investment team in developing new institutional relationships for the Firm. This position will cover both Australia and New Zealand. The individual will represent the Firm as an experienced and knowledgeable investor of quantitative equity strategies to prospects and consultants, with a strong desire to help the Firm build its business in the region.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Develop new relationships with institutional investors with a strong emphasis on superannuation funds,consultants (such as Jana and Frontier), wealth managers and platforms, and family offices
- Identify qualified prospects and develop unique marketing strategies for each prospect
- Develop close personal relationships with top prospects to better understand each fund’s needs and preferences through one-on-one meetings
- Work with the Portfolio Management and Research teams to present strategies of interest to each prospect
- Manage the information flow between the Firm and the prospect
- Clearly present the Firm’s quantitative investment approach and carry the Firm’s message in a professional manner
- Review and help write responses to RFPs to clearly convey the Firm’s investment approach and customize responses to reflect your knowledge of the prospect
- 12-15 high quality meetings per month
- Contribute to the team’s annual revenue target by closing at least two new relationships each year
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Intellectually curious possessing the ability to hold in-depth conversations with high level investment professionals
- Passion for the investment business, with a deep desire to build a book of business
- Team player with an ability to work independently
- Desire and proven ability to connect with people with different interests and backgrounds
- Creative networking skills
- Ability to obtain meetings and develop deep relationships with qualified institutional investors
- Undergraduate or advanced degree
- 12+ years of professional sales experience
- Comfort with quantitative methods
- Demonstrated ability to close institutional equity management business
- Understand the needs of large institutional investors and strategize how to convert them into equity mandates
- Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Excellent team player who can develop strong internal relationships across departments
- Responds quickly and thoroughly to follow up requests
- Crisp and clear written communicator
- Strong presentation abilities
- Mature, gracious professional who is assertive, but respectful
- Values professional relationships

This will be a fully remote position requiring occasional visits to the Los Angeles office.
