JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking for a Director to help lead, establish and develop our service offerings to Private Equity Owned Portfolio Companies (PortCos).
We aspire to setting up a service offering for both Private Equity owners and the management teams of portfolio companies to support them in their data analytics and data management requirements across various needs for PortCo companies.
The projects would include value creation initiatives across portfolio companies, including technological transformation, strategic growth initiatives, operational improvement and cost optimization.
Projects will be delivered by leveraging our established Analytics, Digital, Data and AI transformations capabilities. The candidate will be ultimately responsible for building this new service offering, building relationships with both PE firms as well as their portfolio companies, generating opportunities and overseeing project delivery, acting as the main point of contact between the Delivery team (based on shore or offshore locations) and the Portfolio Company/PE Value Creation team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytics background and relevant experience in Strategy consulting, working with portfolio companies in Private Equity, or have experience in a PE internal Value Creation team having developed the ability to understand clients’ commercial problems and structure and deliver solutions.
The candidate will focus on the UK/US market, where Acuity has existing extensive relationships with Private Equity firms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proposition development. The candidate will be ultimately responsible for the new Service offering units, defining the service proposition and lead the growth and success of this new service line
- Business Development: The candidate will be responsible for developing and building client relationships with the value creation teams within Private Equity firms. The candidate will be responsible for working with potential clients to identify new business opportunities and will work very closely with Acuity’s Sales team to leverage existing relationships and create new ones.
- Opportunity scoping: The candidate will be responsible for understanding clients’ commercial objectives and on that basis, lead the development of high quality project scopes and proposals that win work, working with the delivery teams to ensure appropriate commercial terms are agreed. A key part of the success of the candidate will be revenue generation at the appropriate commercial terms.
- Project Delivery: The candidate will be also responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects, leading a team of near shore or offshore consultants.. While the project team will be responsible for day to day project work, the candidate will be ultimately responsible for overall project delivery, quality and client satisfaction. It is expected that the candidate will work across multiple projects and clients
- Stakeholder management: The candidate will be responsible for acting as the main point of contact between the client teams (PE owners as well as Portfolio Companies) to ensure that client needs are properly understood to ensure project delivery success as well as creating long-lasting client relationships to drive repeated work.
- Senior Management Support: As this is a Senior position within the Acuity team, we expect the candidate to also actively participate and contribute to Acuity’s Senior management team – for example by suggesting potential new areas of development within the PE/Portco client segment, participating in Marketing events and networking and contributing to other internal initiatives as appropriate
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent academic background and strong quantitative abilities
- 10+ years’ professional experience with material exposure to Management consulting (preferably at an MBB, high calibre boutique consultancies or the Big 4), Private Equity value creation teams or high profile Corporate Strategy team
- Previous experience of leading projects and communicate with clients is a key requirement of this role.
- Strong exposure to analytical led projects. Previous Data Science experience (e.g. Machine Learning, Data Science role) or understanding of analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Python is highly beneficial
- Previous experience and exposure to a range of client commercial issues – e.g. establishing data cubes, data management, customer and pricing analytics, financial analysis and value creation strategies
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think through a problem in a structured manner
- Strong communication skills are a must have
- Existing relationships with private equity value creation teams would be advantageous
