Summary
The Senior Business Analyst is considered a subject matter expert, acts as a project lead, and performs highly technical operations in the area of data acquisition, management, analysis or dissemination. The senior analyst is responsible for providing analytical support to economists and other professionals in the System, including design and maintenance of data and metadata storage and delivery solutions and statistical or financial analysis.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Directs or participates in establishing methods and systems for data collection or analysis of economic variables relevant to the formulation and conduct of monetary and regulatory policy and financial stability analysis.
- Supports economists, statisticians, and other analysts in obtaining and manipulating economic, financial, or regulatory data. Performs complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing user requests.
- Answers inquiries from senior staff, other agencies, and the general public about reporting issues, data content, and related topics; participates in the establishment of standards for publishing report descriptions and related documentation.
- Takes a lead role in developing and implementing efforts to promote electronic collection, acquisition, and dissemination of data.
- Manages the timeliness and integrity of data; creates and supervises documentation of database contents and data flows; facilitates and supervises the use of data to support the requirements of management, data maintainers, and data users.
- Develops appropriate methodologies, policies and procedures for collecting, storing, analyzing, and presenting data products.
- Serves as project manager or subject matter expert on major projects. May direct assignments for lower level staff.
- Designs and conducts training activities and oversees the creation and support of documentation to support those activities.
- Develops own professional skills. Identifies appropriate directions for own professional development, and initiates activities to bring about that development.

About the Role
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for providing analytical, operational, and program support to division leadership, including design and implementation of business processes and programs. Collects, maintains, and disseminates business data and information pertaining to a broad range of division and/or branch programs and activities, and makes recommendations to increase efficiency and streamline processes through sustainable process improvement. The senior analyst is responsible for providing analytical support in the development of reporting that supports effective operations, processes, efficient financial management, strategic decision-making, and resource allocation. Provides quality information and consultative services that enable our leaders to make informed decisions and proactively manage their business.
About The Team
The Operations & Resource Management team consists of Chief, Lead Business Management Analyst, Senior Business Management Analyst and a contractor. The team provides a wide portfolio of operational support and resource management services for the Monetary Affairs and Financial Stability Division, in conjunction with central HR, financial services, travel office and policy.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, finance, public policy, or data analysis
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of training and experience
Technical Skills
- Data Analysis & Visualization
- Statistical analysis and reporting skills
- Proficiency in analytical software (Tableau preferred)
- Effectively resolves highly complex management data questions

- SharePoint experience or other collaboration tools (required)
