The Company: Global Multi-strategy Alternative Asset Manager with over $60B of AUM
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with senior portfolio leadership to oversee a portfolio of externally managed hedge fund allocations spanning multi-strategy and multi-manager platforms, driving returns while carefully weighing risk and cost
- Identify and evaluate emerging fund manager talent through rigorous, independent due diligence
- Build comparative assessments of prospective managers and make well-supported calls on which to bring on board — or let go
- Stay closely engaged with portfolio managers on an ongoing basis, tracking their outlook, incentive alignment, and strategic direction
- Own thorough recordkeeping across all manager relationships, current and prospective
- Play a key role in structuring terms and maintaining strong working relationships with fund partners
- Continuously refine the tools and methodologies used to evaluate manager performance and predict future returns
- Take on ad hoc strategic assignments, from sharpening due diligence methodology to modeling projected returns across various fund strategies
- Step in on cross-team projects and initiatives beyond your immediate coverage area when needed
Requirements
- 6+ years working in institutional investing or asset management
- Hands-on background spanning several asset classes — equities, rates, credit, commodities, currencies, or systematic strategies
- Excel power-user; exposure to Bloomberg, Python, or similar analytical tools a plus
- Sharp quantitative instincts paired with creative, independent problem-solving
- Confident communicator, equally comfortable writing detailed analysis or presenting a view directly to seasoned fund managers
- Top-tier academic track record
- Comfortable going deep on one focus area and taking full ownership of the calls you make
- Able to back an investment (or exit) recommendation with conviction, backed by solid groundwork
- High-energy, competitive drive to consistently outperform
