SUMMARY
Review and monitor employer accounts to ensure compliance with IMRF board policies and the Illinois pension code. This position is responsible for comprehensive financial administration and analytical support for employer accounts. Provide advanced analytical support, mentor, and train team members. Liaison with BSA/Supervisor/ BPO for creation and editing training materials and participate in process improvement initiatives to strengthen employer account accuracy and compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Calculate and process employer Accelerated Payments costs and exemptions.
• Verify, process, and complete adjustments for cash receipts.
Verify employer amortization periods. Prepare changes and facilitate sending pension footnote disclosure (GASB Statements) to employers as appropriate.
• Monitor and report on employer delinquent balances and outstanding Wage Reports. Analyze delinquency trends and recommend strategies to reduce delinquency rates.
• Process changes resulting from GASB statements. Present complex rate changes to leadership and assist in reviewing communication for employers.
• Review financial information and employer rates provided by the actuary. Present complex rate changes to leadership and assist in developing and reviewing communication to employers.
• Process forms related to ERI Amortization Period adoption.
• Monitors, reviews, resolves and responds to inquiries and requests for account corrections from employers, members, IMRF staff, or other key stakeholders received via fax, mail, phone, email, secure messages, general requests, or chat within established department timeliness standards.
• Calculate and enter contribution exclusion ratios.
• Prepare, analyze, and set-up new employer accounts including review and analysis of financial reports, to determine prospective employer financial capability for participation.
• Execute the final review of all dissolution transactions for consolidations, splits and partials.
• Update, maintain and review data changes to employer and member accounts.
• Process the Transfers Out process, including the calculation and communication of contributions and municipal credits to key stakeholders and providing cost estimates to members.
• Provide training and technical guidance to Employer Account Examiners.
• Conduct quality assurance and make process improvement recommendations based on findings and statistics.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for employer account policies, and IMRF regulations.
• Assist with creation and maintenance of training materials.
• Support SOC and financial audit preparation and respond to complex auditor inquiries.
• Participate in cross departmental initiatives and system enhancements identification and testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Two years’ experience as an IMRF Employer Account Examiner and Associates Degree (degree preferred).
• Must have performance history of meeting/exceeding performance standards.
• Must have strong customer service and communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to explain complex mathematical/actuarial concepts.
• Must be detail oriented and work well independently; must have strong organizational skills.
• Must demonstrate initiative and ability to organize personal workflow.
• Must be capable of handling multiple demands and assignments.
• Must have strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in working with confidential issues and information.
• Knowledge of the principles of actuarial, accounting and funding concepts for defined benefit plans is preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The expected annual salary range for this role is $58,881- $64,769.10. Please note the salary information is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The range listed is just one component of IMRF's total compensation package for employees.
