One of our Companies is recruiting for a VP of Sales. Note this role is located in Fort Worth TX.
About the Company: OGD (Overhead Garage Door) is a fast-growing, private-equity-backed platform in the home services industry, built through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Our family of brands currently includes OGD Overhead Garage Door, Garage Doors of Indianapolis, Door Tech Garage Doors, Mid-Georgia Garage Doors, Madisonville Garage Doors, and Halls Garage Doors, with additional companies joining the platform as we continue to execute an active M&A growth strategy. Each acquired brand retains its local market identity and reputation while gaining the benefit of shared operational infrastructure, best practices, and centralized leadership support. As OGD continues to scale through acquisition, we are building a single, platform-level sales function that owns strategy and standards for every sales-related role across the organization — regardless of brand, market, or worker classification — while local brands retain day-to-day operational management of their people.
About the Role: OGD is seeking a VP of Sales to build our sales organization from the ground up at the platform level — designing and implementing the strategy, structure, processes, tools, and talent needed to drive consistent, scalable revenue performance across every sales-related role in the organization, across every current and future brand. This role is unique in that it does not oversee a traditional, direct-line sales team. Instead, revenue-generating activity across the entire OGD platform happens through a mixed workforce that includes 1099 and W-2 hourly and commission-based technicians who sell during service calls and sales reps handling residential and commercial business — most of whom report operationally to brand-level or field leadership, not to this role. A primary lever for success in this role is the mastery of repair vs. replacement ticket segmentation. The VP of Sales will lead this population platform-wide in a dotted-line capacity, building the strategy, training, and incentive structures required to maximize ticket averages and engineer the optimal revenue mix across a decentralized, cross-brand workforce without direct management authority. The ideal candidate has led revenue generation across a technician-driven or field-based sales model at an enterprise level, has managed performance through influence, and has an explicit track record of driving significant EBITDA growth by optimizing the balance between high-margin repair tickets and large-ticket replacement sales.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Program Build
- Design and launch OGD's first company-wide sales strategy, built specifically around managing repair vs. replacement ticket dynamics within a dotted-line, mixed-workforce model.
- Build the frameworks and daily cadences needed to train and push technicians to identify the optimal mix of jobs—ensuring we maximize the monetization of every single truck roll.
- Establish standardized sales processes, performance benchmarks, and ticket-level KPIs that flex across brands and worker classifications (1099 vs. W-2) while maintaining local market relevance.
- Develop incentive and commission structures appropriate to each workforce type, specifically designed to reward the improvement of average repair tickets and the successful conversion of aging systems into full replacements.
Dotted-Line Leadership & Influence
- Lead sales performance and revenue-mix strategy for populations that report operationally to brand-level or field leadership, requiring strong relationship-building and cross-functional alignment skills.
- Partner closely with brand General Managers and Service Managers to drive the adoption of sales playbooks, using hard ticket-economic data to prove how optimized repair vs. replace segmentation increases local profitability.
- Build scorecards and coaching cadences that work in a matrixed environment where the VP of Sales sets ticket-performance standards but does not control day-to-day management.
Platform-Wide & Multi-Brand Leadership
- Serve as the single point of accountability for sales standards, ticket metrics, and revenue-mix optimization across all current brands and future acquisitions.
- Balance platform-level pricebook and sales standardization with the flexibility each brand needs to serve its local market and workforce mix effectively.
M&A Integration
- Build and execute a repeatable playbook for integrating acquired sales/technician populations onto OGD's unified strategy, immediately diagnosing their trailing repair vs. replacement ticket metrics and migrating them to our optimized pricing and presentation frameworks.
Systems, Tools & Reporting
- Drive full adoption and maximum utilization of ServiceTitan's sales-related features (estimates, multi-option pricebooks, memberships, dispatch-for-value tracking, technician scorecards) across all brands.
- Standardize how sales activity, residuals, and technician-driven upsells are tracked within ServiceTitan so that average ticket sizes and repair/replace ratios are perfectly comparable across brands.
- Build reporting cadences and dashboards out of ServiceTitan data that give ownership and the executive team clear, real-time visibility into revenue mix and ticket segmentation.
Enablement & Culture
- Build training programs tailored to each workforce type, focusing heavily on customer communication around the repair-vs-replace decision matrix (e.g., proper execution of Repair/Renew/Replace or Good/Better/Best options on service calls).
- Create a sales culture and set of shared standards across brands, even where the VP of Sales must earn buy-in rather than mandate it through direct authority.
Call Center & Lead Generation Optimization
- Own the strategic performance of the inbound call center, designing booking scripts and capacity-matching strategies that convert raw lead flow into high-probability service and sales opportunities.
- Implement intelligent call routing and CSR (Customer Service Representative) training to ensure high-value replacement inquiries are prioritized and dispatched to top-performing comfort consultants/sales reps, while standard service calls are routed to repair technicians.
- Standardize and hold the call center accountable to data-driven KPIs within ServiceTitan, including Booking Rate, Unbooked Lead Follow-up conversion, Response Time, and outbound campaign efficiency.
- Partner tightly with Marketing to minimize wasted marketing spend and prioritize high ROI sales opportunities.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in a VP, Head of Sales, or equivalent senior leadership role.
- Proven experience driving sales improvement explicitly within a repair vs. replacement environment in the residential/commercial trades or home services industry
- A documented track record of driving measurable improvements in ticket averages and shifting the revenue mix toward higher profitability
- Experience leading sales performance across multiple brands, locations, or business units simultaneously
- Proven experience building or significantly scaling a sales function from an early stage — not just optimizing an existing one
- Experience driving sales performance through a dotted-line or matrixed structure, without direct management authority over the individuals generating revenue
- Excellent influence, relationship-building, and change-management skills — able to drive results through partnership with brand and field leaders rather than direct authority
